Maxima Intake System
Air Intake Systems pump performance-enhancing oxygen directly into your cylinders through the piping for increased efficiency. Slide around town with the improved fuel economy that comes from our Nissan air induction systems. Or, fly off the line and blow away the competition with the pure power that increased air flow can provide. Either way, you'll get increased performance at a great price.
Basic induction Install
Remove the stock air Induction system according to the instructions in your vehicle's repair manual. This should include the air filter, the air filter casing, the tubing from the air filter box, a variety of hose clamps and a couple of sensors which need to be handled carefully.
Set the old Induction system aside. Do not discard until you have properly inspected and installed the new Induction system. Install the new Induction system according to the manufacturer's instructions. Refer to your vehicle's repair manual for additional information. Check the intake for play room. It needs to be tightened in the mounting to not hit other components in the engine bay.
What They Mean by Ram-Air Intake:
A ram-air intake is any intake design which uses the dynamic air pressure created by vehicle motion to increase the static air pressure inside of the Induction manifold on an engine, thus allowing a greater massflow through the engine and hence increasing engine power.
The ram air intake works by reducing the Induction air velocity by increasing the cross sectional area of the intake ducting. When gas velocity goes down the dynamic pressure is reduced while the static pressure is increased. The increased static pressure in the plenum chamber has a positive effect on engine power, both because of the pressure itself and the increased air density this higher pressure gives.
